Currently (November 2017)...

Hi y'all! The month of November is flying by, par for the course for 2017 apparently. As much as I love Christmas and can't wait for it to be here I also can wait because there's still lots to do and enjoy before Christmas is here and gone.

I've only made it here once this month and I was honestly taken aback when I realized this morning that November is already half way over. I have a list of post ideas for the holiday season, I just need to find the time to work on them. Now that my Christmas decorating is, for the most, complete I should have a little more time for blogging.

Today is another day where it's not Monday but feels like it's Monday. I had Monday off of work for a stat holiday in lieu of Remembrance Day and then was off work yesterday for a dentist appointment in 'the city' so my whole week is totally messed up. Since my brain is all confused on what day it is and since this is my first post in over a week I'm going easy on myself and just going to update y'all on what's currently going on in my world.
Currently...

Reading The Identicals. Still. I don't think I've actually picked it up in over a week, if not longer. I just haven't made reading a priority lately because I've been on a mission to get things done and crossed off my to do list. I really would like to have it finished by the end of this month though. I have a train trip to the Twin Cities coming up so if I don't finish it before then I at least know I'll have something to read on the train. I also need to find a new book before my train ride so I'll have something to read on the way home. Send me some book recommendations y'all!

Listening to all the Christmas music. Yes, I'm that person. Some of my favourites include Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee, Grown-Up Christmas List by Kelly Clarkson, Christmas Time by Christina Aguilera and Little Drummer Boy by Faith Hill.  I think I might actually do up a post all about my Christmas play list one of these days. I listen to Christmas music from the beginning of November until the middle of January and don't get sick of it. I just love Christmas!

Celebrating the fact that I have already finished buying presents for two people on my list and I'm about 1/2 way finished buying for both of my nieces. Now to just figure out what on earth I'm going to get my brother and sister in law and my parents. They're so hard to buy for!

Watching the Harry Potter movies in order to cross them off my Fall Bucket List. It seems so weird to me that I'm still working on my Fall Bucket List because there's been snow on the ground for at least two weeks so it just seems like Winter now. I already watched all of them in October but I didn't pay full attention to them, I just put them on as background noise while I worked on my laptop or cleaned so I couldn't count that as having a Harry Potter marathon.

Working on my Holiday Bucket List. I'm going to see MN at the end of the month and we don't have many plans for while I'm there so I told him we could work on crossing things off of my Holiday Bucket List. And also told him we have to go to Trader Joes and Home Goods. I'm sure he's thrilled... haha

Drinking coffee and anticipating being in a city and getting my first holiday cup of the season. That's how exciting my life is, I get excited about holiday cups. Face palm

Waiting for packages to arrive in the mail. I love the convenience of shopping for Christmas gifts online but hate having to wait for them to arrive!

Wearing my new Uggs any chance that I get. It was a long (almost) 2 years without my favourite Uggs in my life. Yes, I'm basic but I don't care beccause they are SO comfy.  I also rediscovered my love for my moccassin slippers and the second my Uggs come off when I get home my moccassins go on.

Anticipating Christmas! I don't get to attend American Thanksgiving festivities this year (it didn't work out with mine or MN's schedules) and Thanksgiving here in the GWN was almost 6 weeks ago so as soon as Remembrance Day was over I was in full on Christmas mode.

Loving this vest from Old Navy. I would wear it every single day if I could. I wish I would have bought it in more colours when I did because there aren't many options online but there were so many colours in store. Hopefully there will still be some left when I make it to a city in a couple of weeks!

Making a list of all the things I need to buy to be able to start my holiday baking. I go crazy with the amount of Christmas baking that I do so I need to be organized or else its utter chaos . I'm hoping to get a start on it this weekend!

Tomorrow night my work is hosting a Christmas Paint Night fundraiser that I've been super busy planning and organizing and trying to get all the tickets sold. It's definitely consumed a chunk of my life for the past few weeks so it will be nice to have that crossed off the list. I'm also participating in the event so I'm excited for it. I did my first Paint Nite event a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it and now I want to do them all the time!
Have you ever participated in a Paint Night?

November Goals (2017)...

We're a week into November already. How is that possible?! I know I say this every month but how is time flying by so fast? It's the holiday season now so I hope time will slow down just a little bit. As much as I love Christmas I also love the entire season leading up to it and Boxing Day is one of the saddest days ever when it's finally all over so I'd like to be able to enjoy the holiday season before it's over for another year.

November 1st brought the first snowfall to SE Sask. Unfortunately it appears that it's here to stay (I guess the upside is that at least it waited for Halloween to be over). It was also unfortunate that I threw away all of my Winter boots (it was long overdue) at the end of last Winter and I thought I'd have more time to get new ones before it snowed. Whooops! So on Sunday I spent $250+ just on Winter boots for myself.

I ordered a new pair of Uggs (it was on my Fall Bucket List) and then went into 'the city' with my sister that night and got myself a typical pair of Winter boots from Wal-Mart to keep in my vehicle in case of an emergency/use at work or when I need to shovel snow, etc. I got Uggs for Christmas 2008 and the Winter before last I finally had to throw them out and it hurt my heart to do so. Then I threw away the other two pairs of boots that I owned in March/April when the last of the snow melted. I can't wait for my Uggs to get here, it's been a long two years without my favourite boots. Even though it was expensive to get two new pairs of boots at once I'm glad that I got the other pair so that I won't wreck my Uggs. It was just a lot of money to spend on boots in one day (for me anyways. I'll never understand people who own multiple pairs of expensive boots. They obviously don't live in SK where there's snow on the ground for 5 months of the year!). But enough about snow and boots, on to my November Goals (and an October Goals recap!).

In October I Wanted To...

'Boo' somebody
I bought the stuff to 'boo' someone but then I couldn't decide who to actually 'Boo' so I never ended up doing it. I guess now I'll have (almost) everything I need for next year...

Get back into a fitness routine
Definitely didn't happen. And I'm kicking myself for it. I will get back into a fitness routine in November. I need to before I'm surrounded by all the delicious holiday food.

Have a sleepover with my nieces
The girls and I had a sleepover on the Saturday before Halloween and watched Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas and ate snacks and drank slushes (the girls did anyways, they didn't have any flavours I liked. Hmph). We had plans to make cookies the next morning but they started fighting with each other so we had to table that for a later date. Sisters, right?

Apparently a ghost joined our sleepover too....
Craft something
I'm really reaching with crossing this one off as accomplished. I technically didn't craft anything but I did do something that I pinned forever ago so I'm counting it as a win. After the thousandth time of getting frustrated when my clothes wouldn't stay on the hanger I finally did this trick to try and keep them on. So far it's working!

Try 5 new recipes
I did it again! In November I tried:

Turkey Noodle Casserole
Mexican Stuffed Peppers
Bruschetta Chicken Pasta Salad
Jimmy Fallon's Crock Pot Chili
Slow Cooker Potato Soup (Now I can't find the recipe I used...)

The turkey noodle casserole was necessary with all the turkey leftovers from Thanksgiving. I was originally going to use this recipe for the stuffed peppers but I couldn't get all the ingredients so in the end I just mashed together a couple of different recipes and they turned out delish! The bruschetta chicken pasta salad wasn't my favourite but I think I'll give it another go using a different bruschetta recipe - the chicken in it is soooo good! I made Jimmy Fallon's crock pot chili for a chili fundraiser for work and it was very good but I like my chili to have regular beans and celery (for crunch) so I think I would make it again and just add those to it as well. The potato soup was made for supper on Halloween and think I prefer the Paula Deen crockpot potato soup that I make over this one, but I needed one more recipe to try in October.

Order 2017 photos
Again, noooope.

Publish at least 10 blog posts
I only made it to 7 and then I ran out of time/days. Still pretty good for me but I know I can do better.

Create a daily skincare routine and follow through with it
I haven't consistently followed through with it every single day so I didn't cross it off but I have been actively trying to take better care of my skin so at least there's that!

Celebrate Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was great and my Mama once again outdid herself with the ah-mazing Thanksgiving feast. I can't wait to enjoy it all again at Christmas!

Enjoy an at home spa day
To be honest I completely forgot about this goal. I think I'll add it to my December Goals because the holidays can be a little bit stressful so that seems like a good way to deal with the stress.
On to November's Goals, which I hope I do better at accomplishing!

In November I Want To...

Learn how to dutch braid
I really want to learn this y'all. I can french braid, it just doesn't look the greatest when I do it on myself, so now I want to learn this. I've been watching tutorials on YouTube while I get ready in the mornings so I think I might be ready to attempt it. Wish me luck!

Order 2017 photos
The reason I haven't done this yet is because it's soooo expensive. In 2018 I need to keep up with printing off photos so that I can spend around $20 per month printing them off instead of spending $250ish to get (almost) the entire year done at once. Ughhh.

Get back into a fitness routine
It's absolutely happening this month. I feel so blahhhhh lately and I think this will definitely help ease that feeling.

Sew something
Anything. It has been waaay too long since I even touched my sewing machine. I'm doing two Paint Night events this months and I'm super excited about them so I know I'll be crafting something for sure this month (since I technically didn't craft anything in Oct). I actually did my first Paint Nite last Thursday with some friends. It was a holiday themed painting (my favourite) and we didn't quite have enough time to finish them at the event so I'm working on finishing it at home in my spare time. The one coming up next Friday is a fundraiser for work and it's also Christmas themed and I can't wait to display them both!

Start my Christmas baking
I go absolutely overboard when it comes to baking Christmas treats. I always have waaay too much but I love doing it so that will never change. With working weekends over the last two Christmas seasons I had to do all of my baking within just two days. And they were full days where I'd be starting at 7:00 am and finishing after midnight. Craziness! Now that my weekends are (for the most part) free I can break it up and won't have to kill my feet (and back!) trying to get it all done at once. I probably make somewhere around 700-800 different treats each year. And it seems that each year I add more things to try but don't take anything away (because I love them too much). I can't wait to get started!

Decorate for Christmas
Remembrance Day is on Saturday so that means I can officially start decorating for Christmas on Sunday! I cannot wait. First things first I'll be putting my new Christmas flannel sheets on my bed along with my Christmas comforter and then moving my tree from the spare room to my bedroom (it stays up and decorated all year long...) and then I'll go from there.

Wrap gifts and complete at least 50% of my shopping
I started Christmas shopping in September and so far I have bought a couple things for my nieces, a few things for friends/swaps and my nephew is about 85% complete. That gives me the rest of November to try and get things bought for my siblings, parents, and MN and then hopefully finish buying for my nieces and nephew. I also need to find wrapping paper (I'm very picky when it comes to wrapping paper) so I can start wrapping. The last couple of years I have spent time on Christmas Eve (and even Christmas morning) wrapping at least half of my presents. Not this year!

Read a book
I didn't read a single book in October. Not one. That is sooooooo wrong. I usually read at least 3 a month, if not more. So this was absolutely necessary as a goal for this month.

Order Christmas cards
I didn't do any last year because I wasn't organized enough but I definitely want to do them again this year. I love sending/receiving Christmas cards!

Try a new restaurant
I'm heading to the Twin Cities to see MN at the end of the month so hopefully I'll be able to convince him to go somewhere I've never been so I can cross it off the list.

I think these are all really attainable, which is good because life is going to be busy (but in a good way!) over the next 6ishweeks until Christmas.

Links + Love (October 2017)...

I had a lovely bout of anxiety last weekend which resulted in me completely ruining my gel polish manicure- when I'm anxious I pick and bite at my nails constantly. I was due for a three week fill this week so my nails were very long and had started chipping in the corners (I just hadn't made an appointment for a fill yet) and as soon as my nails start to chip or any of them tear then I pick at them/bite them when I'm anxious. After my anxiety finally eased my nails were still at a decent length despite everything I'd put them through (I've bitten them down so bad in the past that they've bled) so I decided that to preserve them until my appointment on Monday (that I scheduled as soon as I was feeling less anxious) I would file the gel polish off and paint them with regular polish. If my nails are painted - with either gel polish or regular polish- I will leave them alone even when I'm anxious as long as there are no chips. When I painted them I rediscovered my love for Essie's Ladylike. I have a huge Essie nail polish collection but now that I get regular gel polish manicures I never get to use them anymore :(

I don't watch The Voice anymore so I had no idea who Dave Crosby and Claire Ryann were until I was home for lunch the other day and saw them on Ellen. This video makes my heart so happy. I fell down the rabbit hole and have watched so many of their videos over the last couple of days. Claire is just the sweetest!

I wish I could wear this shirt every single day of my life. It is sooooo soft y'all.

I picked up this Wondershop Flannel Sheet Set at Target on Monday. I already have a winter set of sheets but these just screamed CHRISTMAS so I had to have them. I love Halloween but I kind of can't wait for it to be over so I can get these on my bed!

I also grabbed these Cynthia Rowley pillowcases at TJ Maxx last Friday. I mean, how could I resist?! Aaaand they were only $7.99 so an absolute steal of a deal!

I cannot wait to get to Wal-Mart in Minot to pick up this Pioneer Woman pie plate. I'm obsessed with all of the Vintage Floral collection. Insert a million heart eye emojis here. I also already own a slow cooker but I am absolutely replacing it with this one.

I haven't ordered this Family Holiday Pillow from Thirty-One Gifts yet but it will definitely be in my home before Christmas. I just can't decide for sure on what saying to put on it. Help!

I've never done a Wine + Paint Night before so I'm super excited for the two I've signed up for within the next few weeks. It definitely helps that they are both Christmas themed...

Have a fabulous Halloween weekend y'all! My plans for this weekend consist of doing all.the.Halloween things with my nieces. I can't wait!

What's Up Wednesday (October 2017)...

What I'm Eating This Week...
This week is a complete write off when it comes to cooking but I've spent a lot of time in the kitchen already this month so at least there's that. I work late shifts three nights this week, was on the road one night, and have plans with friends from 'the city' for supper tonight so this weekend will probably be the first time this week that I actually cook. Next week I'll hopefully get back into the swing of things.
What I'm Reminiscing About...
Celebrating Halloween when I was younger. I just love this holiday so much and it brings back such great memories for me. My siblings and I were absolutely spoiled and our Mama would drive us around after it got dark so we could make sure to hit up every single house in our small town (pretty close anyways!). I wish I could go back in time and relive it all (except for the times when it was snowing - that I could do without...).

What I'm Loving...
All the Halloween things. All.of.them

What I've Been Up To...
Trying to get my life organized. Decorating for Halloween. Killing a million and one maple bugs every single day (why are they so bad this year?!). Trying new recipes. Snuggling Krickit. Avoiding all the Halloween candy stashed in the spare bedroom.

What I'm Dreading...
Winter. Not even Winter really, since it technically doesn't start until December 21st. What I'm actually dreading is snow. And bad road conditions. That's the part of Winter that I dread. If it weren't for having to worry about road conditions I actually wouldn't mind Winter at all.

What I'm Working On...
Finishing up the photo edits for the pictures I took of my friend and her boyfriend for their Christmas cards. I could not be a professional photographer y'all. Editing is my nightmare.

What I'm Excited About...
The Christmas season! With Thanksgiving in the GWN already over and Halloween a week away I only have to make it to Remembrance Day (November 11th) and then on November 12th it's time for everything Christmas. Bring it on!

What I'm Reading...
I'm still trying to finish The Identicals. I haven't finished a single book yet in October, which is sooo weird for me!
What I'm Watching...
I started watching Riverdale on Netflix because so many people talk about it but so far I'm not really into it. I've also been slowly watching the first season of This Is Us. I thought I'd binge watch all of the episodes but I needed to give myself time to process all the emotions it brings so I've been slowly working my way through it. I've also been watching anything Halloween related. MN and I watched Hocus Pocus on the weekend (well I watched, he was snoozing before we were 30 mins in...) and The Sixth Sense. This weekend I need to fit a tooon of Hallowen/Scary movies in.

What I'm Listening To...
I created a new playlist on Spotify that I called 'Classic Country'. The 'Classic' part is a little misleading though because it's all music from the 80's and 90's (and even some from the early 2000's) that my parents listened to when I was young. Reba McEntire, Patty Loveless, Alabama, Terri Clark, Lonestar, Clay Walker, Tracy Lawrence, Michelle Wright, The Judd's, etc, etc. It's bringing back SO many memories!

What I'm Wearing...
I picked up a few things at Old Navy while in Minot last weekend, the first time in a while that I've actually shopped for clothes. I've wanted a vest for awhile but wasn't sure about the fit so wanted to wait until I could try on so that was what I initally went into the store for. And I ended up leaving with the Frost Free Vest in black, this Relaxed Soft-Wash Classic Shirt in Windowpane, a plain long sleeve grey shirt for layering underneath the vest, and two pairs of active wear pants that were on sale for 50% off that day only. I actually didn't pay full price for a single item, which I call a huge win! The only bummer is that I tried on a pair of Rockstar jeans that I loved but they were full price so I decided I would look for them online when I got home, because I hate paying full price for anything and there is always a coupon code online, and when I checked online I found that they are only available in a size that is 6 sizes too big for me. Ughhhhh!

What I'm Doing This Weekend...
All the Halloween things. I'm having a sleepover with my nieces and making all the Halloween goodies and watching Hocus Pocus and Harry Potter and just enjoying time with them because I feel like I barely see them anymore.

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month...
My work is holding another fundraising event, this time a Christmas Paint Night and I can't wait. I'm also going to a Wine/Paint Nite next week with friends that supports another childcare centre in a neighbouring town. I've never been to one before but have wanted to for a loooong time so I'm super excited.

What Else Is New...
Not a whole lot is new in my world. MN was visiting over the weekend and I ended up with a terrible sinus infection that is just now starting to get better so that put a damper on seeing him for the first time in almost 5 weeks. We're trying to make plans to a trip to Chicago before Christmas as our Christmas present to each other but that's hard to do when we're normally in different countries and on completely different schedules and then the one time that we're together in 5 weeks I can barely talk or keep my eyes open. Terrible timing. I've been a bit of a hermit lately but have lots of plans with friends coming up in the next few weeks so that should help pass the time as I countdown to Christmas!

Life Lately...

October is flying by y'all and I am freaking out about how close we are to Christmas already. Someone shared on FB yesterday that there are only 9 more Mondays until Christmas. NINE. How is that even possible?! My nephew turned 8 months old on Monday and I cannot even fathom how fast this year has gone by. I still have so much to do and accomplish and time is running out! But instead of being productive and actually doing any of those things I'm just going to write out a life lately update.

I got away to the Queen City for a night a couple weeks ago with my sister and nieces. Graycie had a pediatrician appointment so we went up the night before to stay at a hotel and the girls got to swim and waterslide for a bit. Trying to get them out of the pool to check out of the hotel and head to the appointment the next morning was not an easy feat. We got a little bit of shopping in and I managed to snag some more Rae Dunn goodies at Home Sense and Marshalls so I was a happy camper. I've also managed to convince my sister and Graycie to let me make her up as Pennywise for Halloween (not for at school, obvi) and I cannot wait. My inspiration is the picture below. I'm pretty sure some people are going to hate us haha
Thanksgiving in the GWN has come and gone. My Mama Bear outdid herself again with the delicious Thanksgiving feast. We didn't get around to watching any scary movies though, which was a bummer. It's become tradition to watch a scary movie on Thanksgiving while all my family is together. One year we watched all the Scream movies and another year watched The Conuring together. Strange, I know, but I love it! I tried to get pictures of my nieces and nephew all together in their plaid shirts but it was an epic fail. It was chilly outside so I couldn't take the baby outside so between the lighting and trying to get three tiny humans to look in the same direction there wasn't a single picture that turned out.
As mentioned before, I've been on the hunt for an inexpensive fake plant for a long time now. A couple weeks ago Lauren mentioned on her IG story that the Fiddle Leaf Tree that she has in her home was finally back in stock and only $56. I hadn't found anything for less than $130 in my search so I was immediately sold. I texted MN that I needed him to order it and have it shipped to his house (I didn't think they would ship to the GWN), assuming he would just laugh at me. Instead, he agreed but then found an even cheaper (but still nice) fake plant on Amazon and he ordered it! Now he has a fake tree in a box taking up space in his apartment just waiting for when we have our own place together. He's a keeper. The only downside is that he thinks it can substitute as his Christmas tree (eye roll).
As you can see, we communicate a lot through emojis and capital letters haha
I've been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately, which I'm actually loving. Who knew that if you just have a plan for what you're going to make/eat that it makes cooking way easier and even enjoyable?! Haha.  I just wish I had a clean-up fairy to do all the dishes when I'm done... So far this month I have tried a few new recipes but also made some tried and true classics. This past Sunday I was in the kitchen for almost five hours straight making the Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls and Monster Cookies for my work fundraiser this weekend (and half for my family to keep and enjoy). I LOVE the PW's Cinnamon Rolls but holy moly are they a lot of work - it's quite the process. Totally worth it, but there's a reason I only do it a couple times a year. I also made Stuffed Peppers for the first time over the weekend and they were a huge hit. So yummy! I had originally planned to use this recipe but couldn't get and Spanish/Mexican rice in my local grocery store so I ended up mixing a couple different recipes together and it turned out great!
Last night I made this Bruschetta Chicken Pasta Salad for supper. My mom tried some and then said "Is it supposed to be cold...?". I guess I didn't emphasize the salad part enough haha.  It was good enough, the chicken was ah-mazing and I will definitely be making the chicken the same way again to serve as a meal on its own, but I wasn't a huge fan of the taste of the bruschetta (and I love bruschetta) so I think I will make it again just with a different bruschetta recipe. I love how simple and fast it was - I didn't get home from work until around 6:10 and I was eating supper before 7:00 so that's a win when trying a new recipe!
I had to text my brother yesterday to ask him what Amber beer is. Up until I met MN all I knew about beer is that I like to drink it. Now that we've been dating almost a year and a half I've definitely tried more craft beers than I ever thought I would and have even been on tours to find out how beer is made (it all went over my head...) but I still really don't know anything about different styles of beer (just that I hate hoppy beers). I'm making a pot of chili for a fundraiser for work this weekend and I'm trying out this recipe, which calls for a bottle of Amber beer. I was hoping my brother would tell me that one of the kinds of beer I already have in my fridge at home (Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Pilsner, or Grapefruit Shandy) was an Amber beer but, spoiler alert,  none are. So now I need to go to the liquor store in the hopes that they have Alexander Keith's for sale individually. And the reason I didn't ask MN my question? I was too embarassed that I didn't already know the answer considering he's tried his hardest to educate me on beers over the course of our relationship. Whooops.

I'm meeting up with friends in 'the city' tonight for supper. I haven't seen them in what seems like forever so it's much needed. I also have plans to go out with a friend to the Olive Branch for supper next Friday and discussed plans with a couple other friends to go to a Wine/Paint Nite fundraiser in another town in a couple weeks. I've already been feeling the beginning of the Winter Blues (and it's not even Winter yet!) so getting out of the house with friends will hopefully help with that.

This weekend my work is holding a fundraising event that I did 95% of the planning for. And I can't be there when they set up/for the beginning of the fundraiser because I'll be in Minot picking MN up off the train. For a Type A control freak like me it is painful to put work into something and then not be able to follow through with it completely. I have a bunch of information written out for the board members that will be doing the set up for the event and for the volunteers that will be helping out until I can get there and I just hope they don't take my control freak ways the wrong way.

What have you been up to lately?

Tuesday Truths...

Y'all. I started writing two different posts last week and then never finished them and now they wouldn't make sense if I were to post them today (one was about Friday the 13th...). Whyyyy do I do this to myself?! Ughhh. And now that I've confessed that, I have a few more truths for you today...

I have filled up numerous shopping carts online over the last week or so but each time has ended with me closing the tab before entering my credit card information. There are just so many good sales going on right now and they reeled me in. It doesn't help that Ebates has good cash back amounts for most of the stores holding the sales so I then think I need to buy everything right now. Thankfully I've talked myself off the ledge each time and my budget is still intact. For now...

My online
shopping trips
usually consist of
me filling my cart
up with stuff, and
then not buying
anything

I'm counting down the days until I head to Minot to pick up MN because obviously I miss him since I haven't seen him in almost 5 weeks but also because I realy need a new fall candle in my life and can't wait to hit up Bath and Body Works. And Target. And to get good Halloween candy. The GWN has better everyday candy and treats (in my opinion) but the US of A has a much better Halloween candy selection.
Here's to stockpiling enough Halloween candy to last until Halloween.

I'm currently working on a post called 'Things Bloggers Made Me Buy' about all the crap I've bought just because a blogger has raved about it (or a YouTuber!) and the length of my list is ridiculous.

I think all pumpkins should be white. They're just way prettier. I had been on the hunt for mini Boo pumpkins (white, of course) for awhile with absolutely zero luck until my friend who lives in a neighbouring town messaged me that her tiny little grocery store had some. Luckily I had a vet appointment for Krickit last week in that town so I loaded up on them just in case all I could find when I finally made it to a city was orange ones. Blechhh.

Pumpkins are more
orange than I prefer.

The last 7 years I've dressed up for work as either a Red Crayola Crayon or a Pink Crayola Crayon for Halloween. Seven. I mean, I work with tiny humans so the costume totally fits but I'm kind of over it and need something new this year - I just have no idea what to be.  HELP!

There's nothing scarier than being asked what I'm going to be for Halloween.

My friend offered me four tickets to the Rider game in the Queen City last Friday night but I had to work until 6 (the one time a week that I do...) so I couldn't take her up on it. I really haven't been into football over the last couple of years like I used to be, mostly because my life revolves around baseball now, but I would've loved an excuse to go to the city to hit up Home Sense (face palm).

My idea of a treasure
hunt are trips to
T.J.Maxx,
Marshalls,

I've been rewatching Grey's Anatomy and I just bawled my eyes out (literally - there were huge tear stains on my pillow) when Meredith and Derek got engaged. I'm just going to live in a pretend world where they are still together and happy and that's all there is to it.

I don't always watch
Grey's Anatomy,
but when I do a
main character
dies in a bloody
and horrific fashion.

Currently (October 2017)...

Today is another Tuesday-that-feels-like-a-Monday BUT I've only got a four day work week ahead of me so I can get on board with that, even if it feels like I'm living out Monday twice (yuck. Mondays are the worst).

This weekend was Thanksgiving here in the GWN, which meant a long weekend for me (though it flew by just like a regular weekend does...). It was a combination of relaxation mixed in with getting things done, which is just the way I like it.

Since today is a Tuesday-that-feels-like-a-Monday I thought I'd go easy on myself and throw up this month's Currently post so I wouldn't have to exhaust my brain too much before getting back to work after three days off.
Currently...

Reading  The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand. I'm about 1/4 of the way through but I haven't really gotten into it yet, which is why it's been in my reading pile for so long now. I think that after finishing the Harry Potter series again anything is going to seem dull compared to those books! I probably should have started off with a mystery/suspense novel instead of The Identicals but I will finish it. Eventually...

Listening to my tv playing in the background as I sit in bed writing this. I've still been loving Legends by Kelsea Ballerini and I also added Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato to my Spotify playlist. My playlist (that I listen to whenver I'm at my desk at work) is usually just full of country music but I got Sorry Not Sorry stuck in my head while in my sisters vehicle last week so I added it to my playlist and I'm actually really loving it.

Celebrating Thanksgiving! Well, I guess Thanksgiving is now technically over but I was celebrating Thanksgiving over the weekend. My family always celebrates Thanksgiving on Sunday instead of on Monday and my Mama Bear made another ah-mazing Thanksgiving feast for us. There was SO much food and still lots of leftover turkey to make some Turkey Fried Rice and Creamy Turkey Noodle Soup for supper tonight.  I love that Thanksgiving in Canada is in October because it kickstarts the holiday season leading up to my absolute two favourite holidays - Halloween and Christmas.

Watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2. I've been watching all of the movies over the last week after finishing all of the books again, but I've really just had them on as background noise while I do other things. I plan to have a proper Harry Potter movie marathon day where I watch all of the movies so I can actually pay attention to them all (I've only actually seen a few of the movies from start to finish). My sister asked to borrow the movies when she found out I owned them all so I think I'll just force her to binge watch them with me one weekend coming up.

Working on decluttering my life while also decorating for the holidays, which really doesn't mesh well. I can't believe how much stuff I've accumulated that I really don't have a use for anymore (but also don't want to just throw out). I'm an impulsive shopper but I pretty much have to be when I live 2 1/2 hours from a city with any decent shopping. If I took my time making a decision on whether to purchase something I wouldn't have anything because I never get anywhere! I need to have a huge garage sale but it's a little late in the year to be doing that (aka it's too dang cold out now!).

Drinking all the Cranberry Ginger Ale.  Now that it's officially the holiday season (I think so anyways) I feel like I have to drink them (it doesn't hurt that they are delish). I usually have at least a full case in my fridge at all times, just in case, because there were a couple years that they were super hard to find and I had to ration myself to one a month. I really don't drink much pop at home but when the holidays hit I just have to have some Cranberry Ginger Ale. I also picked up some Tim Horton's French Vanilla mix while in the Queen City a couple weeks ago and I've been having a cup of that a few times a week before bed. The closest Tim Hortons is 45 minutes away so a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! And it's sooo yummy y'all!

Waiting, not so patiently, for my car payment to finally come out of my account. This was on my last currently post too - I'm just SO close to having my SUV paid off that I just want to know for sure for sure how much I have left owing on her and when the funds don't come out of my account on the day that they're supposed to I get super stabby. I've probably checked my account at least 5 times already today (and it's only 6:30 in the morning...). I know yesterday was a holiday but it should have came out of my account anyways!

Wearing an oversized hoodie and baggy Under Armour sweats to hide how much Thanksgiving food I consumed between the actuall supper on Sunday and the leftovers yesterday. It's a very good thing I only eat like that a couple times a year!

Anticipating MN coming to the GWN next weekend. By then it will be almost 5 weeks since we last saw each other. Now I just need to figure out what we'll do while he's here!

Loving the forecast for this upcoming week. Yesterday had a high of 5 (it was pretty chilly!) but the rest of the week is supposed to be warmer. I need to soak it all in before the snow falls.

Making  a meal plan for the next two weeks. I've realized the hard way that failing to plan is planning to fail when it comes to supper time and I do not want to be getting off of work and still having no idea what I'm going to have for supper. Those last minute trips to the grocery store make me SO stabby! I haven't completely finished the meal plan yet but I've got supper for tonight figured out so at least there's that. I think once I do have a plan in place I'll post it on here - I know I love posts like that to give me some new ideas!

September Happenings (2017)...

It has been a hot minute since I've been on the ball enough to get a monthly happenings post written but I finally did it (lets just disregard the fact that I'm a day late in getting it up...)!

September started off with a road trip to Saskatoon for my cousin's wedding. I had been in the Twin Cities visiting MN from August 26-31 so we took the train back to Minot together and he finally got to meet some of my extended family once we made it to Saskatoon later that night. MN comes from a very small family and I come from a very large family (to compare, he has two first cousins and I have 27). Up until this wedding he had only met maybe 5 members of my extended family and I had already met his entire extended family many, many times. My cousin Dana got married at the end of June (and MN hadn't been able to make that wedding) and most of my family attended that wedding -  this was her brothers wedding and over half of my family couldn't make it because of other commitments so MN got off pretty lucky with not having to meet everybody (from that side of the family) all at once!

My birthday is in July but I was in Vegas (with most of my family) so my birthday celebration got pushed back because we were gone. Summer is always so busy that we couldn't make a time work to do my family birthday supper until September 10th, almost 7 weeks after my birthday (face palm). My mama always makes me and my siblings a birthday supper and we can request whatever we want (yes, we know we're spoiled). I am Christmas obsessed so back in July I had requested Christmas supper (turkey and all the fixings) so we could celebrate Christmas in July. However, we ended up celebrating Christmas-in-July-in September instead. Most of us wore some form of a Christmas outfit (there were a few spoilsports), I brought out a few Christmas decorations, and we ate Christmas supper and played the Home Alone drinking game, a Christmas Day tradition in my family. Quade got to experience his first Christmas supper before he even experienced his first Christmas!

In the middle of the month I road tripped to the Twin Cities with my brother, SIL, and nephew to do some bird watching. We bought the tickets back in February and then just a couple weeks before the trip my Mama and Aunt + Uncle got tickets too so there ended up being 15 of us in total in our little group. There were four games in total and between driving from MN's place in St.Paul to downtown Minneapolis where everyone was staying plus making trips to the MOA and the Eagan Outlets it was a very busy weekend. Next time I think we will plan for a full day where there are no baseball games so that we don't feel so rushed to try and get everything done. There was barely time to eat anywhere except the ball game we were always so rushed! The Twins and Jays split the series with 2 wins each and I got to see all my favourite players play so I was happy! MN seemed a little out of place with 14 Canadians in Blue Jays gear while he was in his Twins gear - I'm sure there were some strange looks sent our way!

My nieces both have birthdays in September  - Rae turned 11 on the 15th (while we were in the Twin Cities) and Graycie turned 7 on the 21st. We were at the baseball game on the day of Rae's birthday so we celebrated her birthday on Sunday night at Benihana's at the MOA. Unfortunately there was a communication mishap and we ended up being split into two tables in two seperate rooms but everyone still enjoyed the food and the experience. Rae dances in 'the city' on Thursday's so we only got to celebrate Graycie's birthday with some cake once they got home late that night and then she had a sleepover with friends to celebrate the next night.

The last weekend of the month I spent some time practicing my photography, taking photos of my friend and her boyfriend for their Christmas cards. I also took some photos of the gorgeous Fall foliage and my adorable angel baby Krickit to get even more practice in.

Other September happenings:

My parents celebrated 33 years of marriage on September 7th. They've been together for over 35 years now which is so crazy to me because I don't see them as being old enough for that!

I spent more time in the kitchen in the month of September than I did all Summer long I'm pretty sure. I like to cook and bake but if I don't have a plan ahead of time I fail at actually cooking so in September I made myself a plan and actually followed through. Hopefully moving forward I can meal plan so that I spend more time in the Kitchen. With Christmas coming up I know that I'll be baking up a storm but

On the 20th I found out that one of my oldests friends is expecting again (and due in January - that's so soon!).

I had to head to the Queen City one day during the last week of the month for an orthodontist appointment for my 6 month retainer check up. I drove 2 1/2 hours for a five minute appointment BUT now I don't have to go back for 8 months so I can live with that. I got a little bit of shopping done while in the city and got started on my Christmas shopping. A new Winners/HomeSense opened up at the end of August and I got to check it out for the first time and grabbed myself a bunch of Rae Dunn stuff. I'm seriously obsessed with all things Rae Dunn right now. Now I just need a house to put it all in!

I finished my Harry Potter summer series re-read!
