Life Lately...

October is flying by y'all and I am freaking out about how close we are to Christmas already. Someone shared on FB yesterday that there are only 9 more Mondays until Christmas. NINE. How is that even possible?! My nephew turned 8 months old on Monday and I cannot even fathom how fast this year has gone by. I still have so much to do and accomplish and time is running out! But instead of being productive and actually doing any of those things I'm just going to write out a life lately update.

I got away to the Queen City for a night a couple weeks ago with my sister and nieces. Graycie had a pediatrician appointment so we went up the night before to stay at a hotel and the girls got to swim and waterslide for a bit. Trying to get them out of the pool to check out of the hotel and head to the appointment the next morning was not an easy feat. We got a little bit of shopping in and I managed to snag some more Rae Dunn goodies at Home Sense and Marshalls so I was a happy camper. I've also managed to convince my sister and Graycie to let me make her up as Pennywise for Halloween (not for at school, obvi) and I cannot wait. My inspiration is the picture below. I'm pretty sure some people are going to hate us haha
Thanksgiving in the GWN has come and gone. My Mama Bear outdid herself again with the delicious Thanksgiving feast. We didn't get around to watching any scary movies though, which was a bummer. It's become tradition to watch a scary movie on Thanksgiving while all my family is together. One year we watched all the Scream movies and another year watched The Conuring together. Strange, I know, but I love it! I tried to get pictures of my nieces and nephew all together in their plaid shirts but it was an epic fail. It was chilly outside so I couldn't take the baby outside so between the lighting and trying to get three tiny humans to look in the same direction there wasn't a single picture that turned out.
As mentioned before, I've been on the hunt for an inexpensive fake plant for a long time now. A couple weeks ago Lauren mentioned on her IG story that the Fiddle Leaf Tree that she has in her home was finally back in stock and only $56. I hadn't found anything for less than $130 in my search so I was immediately sold. I texted MN that I needed him to order it and have it shipped to his house (I didn't think they would ship to the GWN), assuming he would just laugh at me. Instead, he agreed but then found an even cheaper (but still nice) fake plant on Amazon and he ordered it! Now he has a fake tree in a box taking up space in his apartment just waiting for when we have our own place together. He's a keeper. The only downside is that he thinks it can substitute as his Christmas tree (eye roll).
As you can see, we communicate a lot through emojis and capital letters haha
I've been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately, which I'm actually loving. Who knew that if you just have a plan for what you're going to make/eat that it makes cooking way easier and even enjoyable?! Haha.  I just wish I had a clean-up fairy to do all the dishes when I'm done... So far this month I have tried a few new recipes but also made some tried and true classics. This past Sunday I was in the kitchen for almost five hours straight making the Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls and Monster Cookies for my work fundraiser this weekend (and half for my family to keep and enjoy). I LOVE the PW's Cinnamon Rolls but holy moly are they a lot of work - it's quite the process. Totally worth it, but there's a reason I only do it a couple times a year. I also made Stuffed Peppers for the first time over the weekend and they were a huge hit. So yummy! I had originally planned to use this recipe but couldn't get and Spanish/Mexican rice in my local grocery store so I ended up mixing a couple different recipes together and it turned out great!
Last night I made this Bruschetta Chicken Pasta Salad for supper. My mom tried some and then said "Is it supposed to be cold...?". I guess I didn't emphasize the salad part enough haha.  It was good enough, the chicken was ah-mazing and I will definitely be making the chicken the same way again to serve as a meal on its own, but I wasn't a huge fan of the taste of the bruschetta (and I love bruschetta) so I think I will make it again just with a different bruschetta recipe. I love how simple and fast it was - I didn't get home from work until around 6:10 and I was eating supper before 7:00 so that's a win when trying a new recipe!
I had to text my brother yesterday to ask him what Amber beer is. Up until I met MN all I knew about beer is that I like to drink it. Now that we've been dating almost a year and a half I've definitely tried more craft beers than I ever thought I would and have even been on tours to find out how beer is made (it all went over my head...) but I still really don't know anything about different styles of beer (just that I hate hoppy beers). I'm making a pot of chili for a fundraiser for work this weekend and I'm trying out this recipe, which calls for a bottle of Amber beer. I was hoping my brother would tell me that one of the kinds of beer I already have in my fridge at home (Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Pilsner, or Grapefruit Shandy) was an Amber beer but, spoiler alert,  none are. So now I need to go to the liquor store in the hopes that they have Alexander Keith's for sale individually. And the reason I didn't ask MN my question? I was too embarassed that I didn't already know the answer considering he's tried his hardest to educate me on beers over the course of our relationship. Whooops.

I'm meeting up with friends in 'the city' tonight for supper. I haven't seen them in what seems like forever so it's much needed. I also have plans to go out with a friend to the Olive Branch for supper next Friday and discussed plans with a couple other friends to go to a Wine/Paint Nite fundraiser in another town in a couple weeks. I've already been feeling the beginning of the Winter Blues (and it's not even Winter yet!) so getting out of the house with friends will hopefully help with that.

This weekend my work is holding a fundraising event that I did 95% of the planning for. And I can't be there when they set up/for the beginning of the fundraiser because I'll be in Minot picking MN up off the train. For a Type A control freak like me it is painful to put work into something and then not be able to follow through with it completely. I have a bunch of information written out for the board members that will be doing the set up for the event and for the volunteers that will be helping out until I can get there and I just hope they don't take my control freak ways the wrong way.

What have you been up to lately?

Tuesday Truths...

Y'all. I started writing two different posts last week and then never finished them and now they wouldn't make sense if I were to post them today (one was about Friday the 13th...). Whyyyy do I do this to myself?! Ughhh. And now that I've confessed that, I have a few more truths for you today...

I have filled up numerous shopping carts online over the last week or so but each time has ended with me closing the tab before entering my credit card information. There are just so many good sales going on right now and they reeled me in. It doesn't help that Ebates has good cash back amounts for most of the stores holding the sales so I then think I need to buy everything right now. Thankfully I've talked myself off the ledge each time and my budget is still intact. For now...

My online
shopping trips
usually consist of
me filling my cart
up with stuff, and
then not buying
anything

I'm counting down the days until I head to Minot to pick up MN because obviously I miss him since I haven't seen him in almost 5 weeks but also because I realy need a new fall candle in my life and can't wait to hit up Bath and Body Works. And Target. And to get good Halloween candy. The GWN has better everyday candy and treats (in my opinion) but the US of A has a much better Halloween candy selection.
Here's to stockpiling enough Halloween candy to last until Halloween.

I'm currently working on a post called 'Things Bloggers Made Me Buy' about all the crap I've bought just because a blogger has raved about it (or a YouTuber!) and the length of my list is ridiculous.

I think all pumpkins should be white. They're just way prettier. I had been on the hunt for mini Boo pumpkins (white, of course) for awhile with absolutely zero luck until my friend who lives in a neighbouring town messaged me that her tiny little grocery store had some. Luckily I had a vet appointment for Krickit last week in that town so I loaded up on them just in case all I could find when I finally made it to a city was orange ones. Blechhh.

Pumpkins are more
orange than I prefer.

The last 7 years I've dressed up for work as either a Red Crayola Crayon or a Pink Crayola Crayon for Halloween. Seven. I mean, I work with tiny humans so the costume totally fits but I'm kind of over it and need something new this year - I just have no idea what to be.  HELP!

There's nothing scarier than being asked what I'm going to be for Halloween.

My friend offered me four tickets to the Rider game in the Queen City last Friday night but I had to work until 6 (the one time a week that I do...) so I couldn't take her up on it. I really haven't been into football over the last couple of years like I used to be, mostly because my life revolves around baseball now, but I would've loved an excuse to go to the city to hit up Home Sense (face palm).

My idea of a treasure
hunt are trips to
T.J.Maxx,
Marshalls,
HomeGoods
and Ross.

I've been rewatching Grey's Anatomy and I just bawled my eyes out (literally - there were huge tear stains on my pillow) when Meredith and Derek got engaged. I'm just going to live in a pretend world where they are still together and happy and that's all there is to it.

I don't always watch
Grey's Anatomy,
but when I do a
main character
dies in a bloody
and horrific fashion.

Currently (October 2017)...

Today is another Tuesday-that-feels-like-a-Monday BUT I've only got a four day work week ahead of me so I can get on board with that, even if it feels like I'm living out Monday twice (yuck. Mondays are the worst).

This weekend was Thanksgiving here in the GWN, which meant a long weekend for me (though it flew by just like a regular weekend does...). It was a combination of relaxation mixed in with getting things done, which is just the way I like it.

Since today is a Tuesday-that-feels-like-a-Monday I thought I'd go easy on myself and throw up this month's Currently post so I wouldn't have to exhaust my brain too much before getting back to work after three days off.
Currently...

Reading  The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand. I'm about 1/4 of the way through but I haven't really gotten into it yet, which is why it's been in my reading pile for so long now. I think that after finishing the Harry Potter series again anything is going to seem dull compared to those books! I probably should have started off with a mystery/suspense novel instead of The Identicals but I will finish it. Eventually...

Listening to my tv playing in the background as I sit in bed writing this. I've still been loving Legends by Kelsea Ballerini and I also added Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato to my Spotify playlist. My playlist (that I listen to whenver I'm at my desk at work) is usually just full of country music but I got Sorry Not Sorry stuck in my head while in my sisters vehicle last week so I added it to my playlist and I'm actually really loving it.

Celebrating Thanksgiving! Well, I guess Thanksgiving is now technically over but I was celebrating Thanksgiving over the weekend. My family always celebrates Thanksgiving on Sunday instead of on Monday and my Mama Bear made another ah-mazing Thanksgiving feast for us. There was SO much food and still lots of leftover turkey to make some Turkey Fried Rice and Creamy Turkey Noodle Soup for supper tonight.  I love that Thanksgiving in Canada is in October because it kickstarts the holiday season leading up to my absolute two favourite holidays - Halloween and Christmas.

Watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2. I've been watching all of the movies over the last week after finishing all of the books again, but I've really just had them on as background noise while I do other things. I plan to have a proper Harry Potter movie marathon day where I watch all of the movies so I can actually pay attention to them all (I've only actually seen a few of the movies from start to finish). My sister asked to borrow the movies when she found out I owned them all so I think I'll just force her to binge watch them with me one weekend coming up.

Working on decluttering my life while also decorating for the holidays, which really doesn't mesh well. I can't believe how much stuff I've accumulated that I really don't have a use for anymore (but also don't want to just throw out). I'm an impulsive shopper but I pretty much have to be when I live 2 1/2 hours from a city with any decent shopping. If I took my time making a decision on whether to purchase something I wouldn't have anything because I never get anywhere! I need to have a huge garage sale but it's a little late in the year to be doing that (aka it's too dang cold out now!).

Drinking all the Cranberry Ginger Ale.  Now that it's officially the holiday season (I think so anyways) I feel like I have to drink them (it doesn't hurt that they are delish). I usually have at least a full case in my fridge at all times, just in case, because there were a couple years that they were super hard to find and I had to ration myself to one a month. I really don't drink much pop at home but when the holidays hit I just have to have some Cranberry Ginger Ale. I also picked up some Tim Horton's French Vanilla mix while in the Queen City a couple weeks ago and I've been having a cup of that a few times a week before bed. The closest Tim Hortons is 45 minutes away so a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! And it's sooo yummy y'all!

Waiting, not so patiently, for my car payment to finally come out of my account. This was on my last currently post too - I'm just SO close to having my SUV paid off that I just want to know for sure for sure how much I have left owing on her and when the funds don't come out of my account on the day that they're supposed to I get super stabby. I've probably checked my account at least 5 times already today (and it's only 6:30 in the morning...). I know yesterday was a holiday but it should have came out of my account anyways!

Wearing an oversized hoodie and baggy Under Armour sweats to hide how much Thanksgiving food I consumed between the actuall supper on Sunday and the leftovers yesterday. It's a very good thing I only eat like that a couple times a year!

Anticipating MN coming to the GWN next weekend. By then it will be almost 5 weeks since we last saw each other. Now I just need to figure out what we'll do while he's here!

Loving the forecast for this upcoming week. Yesterday had a high of 5 (it was pretty chilly!) but the rest of the week is supposed to be warmer. I need to soak it all in before the snow falls.

Making  a meal plan for the next two weeks. I've realized the hard way that failing to plan is planning to fail when it comes to supper time and I do not want to be getting off of work and still having no idea what I'm going to have for supper. Those last minute trips to the grocery store make me SO stabby! I haven't completely finished the meal plan yet but I've got supper for tonight figured out so at least there's that. I think once I do have a plan in place I'll post it on here - I know I love posts like that to give me some new ideas!
What's your favourite go-to dinner recipe?

September Happenings (2017)...

It has been a hot minute since I've been on the ball enough to get a monthly happenings post written but I finally did it (lets just disregard the fact that I'm a day late in getting it up...)!

September started off with a road trip to Saskatoon for my cousin's wedding. I had been in the Twin Cities visiting MN from August 26-31 so we took the train back to Minot together and he finally got to meet some of my extended family once we made it to Saskatoon later that night. MN comes from a very small family and I come from a very large family (to compare, he has two first cousins and I have 27). Up until this wedding he had only met maybe 5 members of my extended family and I had already met his entire extended family many, many times. My cousin Dana got married at the end of June (and MN hadn't been able to make that wedding) and most of my family attended that wedding -  this was her brothers wedding and over half of my family couldn't make it because of other commitments so MN got off pretty lucky with not having to meet everybody (from that side of the family) all at once!

My birthday is in July but I was in Vegas (with most of my family) so my birthday celebration got pushed back because we were gone. Summer is always so busy that we couldn't make a time work to do my family birthday supper until September 10th, almost 7 weeks after my birthday (face palm). My mama always makes me and my siblings a birthday supper and we can request whatever we want (yes, we know we're spoiled). I am Christmas obsessed so back in July I had requested Christmas supper (turkey and all the fixings) so we could celebrate Christmas in July. However, we ended up celebrating Christmas-in-July-in September instead. Most of us wore some form of a Christmas outfit (there were a few spoilsports), I brought out a few Christmas decorations, and we ate Christmas supper and played the Home Alone drinking game, a Christmas Day tradition in my family. Quade got to experience his first Christmas supper before he even experienced his first Christmas!

In the middle of the month I road tripped to the Twin Cities with my brother, SIL, and nephew to do some bird watching. We bought the tickets back in February and then just a couple weeks before the trip my Mama and Aunt + Uncle got tickets too so there ended up being 15 of us in total in our little group. There were four games in total and between driving from MN's place in St.Paul to downtown Minneapolis where everyone was staying plus making trips to the MOA and the Eagan Outlets it was a very busy weekend. Next time I think we will plan for a full day where there are no baseball games so that we don't feel so rushed to try and get everything done. There was barely time to eat anywhere except the ball game we were always so rushed! The Twins and Jays split the series with 2 wins each and I got to see all my favourite players play so I was happy! MN seemed a little out of place with 14 Canadians in Blue Jays gear while he was in his Twins gear - I'm sure there were some strange looks sent our way!

My nieces both have birthdays in September  - Rae turned 11 on the 15th (while we were in the Twin Cities) and Graycie turned 7 on the 21st. We were at the baseball game on the day of Rae's birthday so we celebrated her birthday on Sunday night at Benihana's at the MOA. Unfortunately there was a communication mishap and we ended up being split into two tables in two seperate rooms but everyone still enjoyed the food and the experience. Rae dances in 'the city' on Thursday's so we only got to celebrate Graycie's birthday with some cake once they got home late that night and then she had a sleepover with friends to celebrate the next night.

The last weekend of the month I spent some time practicing my photography, taking photos of my friend and her boyfriend for their Christmas cards. I also took some photos of the gorgeous Fall foliage and my adorable angel baby Krickit to get even more practice in.

Other September happenings:

My parents celebrated 33 years of marriage on September 7th. They've been together for over 35 years now which is so crazy to me because I don't see them as being old enough for that!

I spent more time in the kitchen in the month of September than I did all Summer long I'm pretty sure. I like to cook and bake but if I don't have a plan ahead of time I fail at actually cooking so in September I made myself a plan and actually followed through. Hopefully moving forward I can meal plan so that I spend more time in the Kitchen. With Christmas coming up I know that I'll be baking up a storm but

On the 20th I found out that one of my oldests friends is expecting again (and due in January - that's so soon!).

I had to head to the Queen City one day during the last week of the month for an orthodontist appointment for my 6 month retainer check up. I drove 2 1/2 hours for a five minute appointment BUT now I don't have to go back for 8 months so I can live with that. I got a little bit of shopping done while in the city and got started on my Christmas shopping. A new Winners/HomeSense opened up at the end of August and I got to check it out for the first time and grabbed myself a bunch of Rae Dunn stuff. I'm seriously obsessed with all things Rae Dunn right now. Now I just need a house to put it all in!

I finished my Harry Potter summer series re-read!

October Goals (2017)...

If I had any hopes for the month of October still having some Summer-like temperatures they were quickly dashed when I saw yesterday that there was enough snow in the Medicine Hat/Calgary area of Alberta to shut down highways and for my friends children to build a snowman in their backyard. Then last night my dad said that it was supposed to get to minus 1 overnight and he wasn't wrong -  when I went to take garbage out to the bin this morning I saw that there is enough frost on my SUV's windshield that I'll need to hit my command start button before I leave for work if I don't want to break out my ice scraper quite yet...

Here in the GWN October is a month that can come with Fall like temperatures and we might get to enjoy the beautiful Fall colours for awhile OR Winter can show up early and October can be covered in snow for almost all of it's days - it's different every year. I'm hoping for Fall to stick around for awhile because I really do love the month of October (hello Halloween month!) but my love does dwindle slightly if the snow decides to make an early appearance. We still got some fairly nice weather at the beginning of September and then towards the middle of the month the Fall colours started appearing and the temperature starting cooling off. And speaking of September...

In September I Wanted To...
Create a Fall Bucket List
Done! You can find it here. I've already gotten a start on it so I'm really hoping I can manage to cross everything off the list. Fingers crossed!

Start Christmas shopping
I haven't bought as much as I would have hoped for at this point but I have bought a few gifts and that's all that matters for the purposes of my monthly goals. Christmas is going to be here before we know it. Eeek!

Get.Outside.With.Krickit
Okay, again not as much as I had hoped to for the month of September but we did get out for a couple of walks and I let her run around the yard off her leash (the yard isn't fenced so she doesn't get to do it often) while I was taking some photos outside a couple different times so it was a start but I am hoping for lots more outside time in October (if the snow holds off long enough...).

Order 2017 photos
Sooooo... I didn't actually get any photos ordered in September but I am going to give myself some credit for this one. I sat down to get photos ordered on the weekend but then decided I wanted to go through and edit them plus delete a bunch so that I wouldn't waste money on pictures that would just get thrown in a box and never seen again.  So, they didn't actually get ordered in September but I had good intentions and did make some progress towards getting them ordered so it's still kind of a win in my books.

Work on my photograpy
I dusted off my DSLR and got outside and took some photos of the gorgeous Fall foliage and on Saturday I took photos of my friend and her boyfriend for their Christmas cards. I'm in the process of editing them and I love how great they turned out! I'm still learning how to work my camera so I definitely don't consider myself a professional but I am still proud of myself for getting out there and working on my skills.

Try 5 new recipes
Y'all aren't going to believe this - I actually exceeded my goal! After months of having 'Try X amount of new recipes' on my monthly goals (and not even attempting it each month) I actually went above and beyond this month and tried 7 new recipes:
Chicken Fajita Pasta
Drumstick Cake
Chicken Noodle Casserole
Slow Cooker Creamy Chicken Fajita Soup
Slow Cooker Hawaiian Chicken
Copycat Chik-fil-A Coleslaw
Mini Twice Baked Stuffed Potato Shells (I can't find the recipe now and TBH I ended up veering way off the recipe)

Practice yoga at least 10 times
I kind of forgot about this one y'all -whoops!

Publish 8 blog posts
I did it y'all!

I am super happy with my September Goals progress. There have been a lot of months lately where I didn't even cross off half of my goals so to only miss out on two in September (and still make progress on one of them) is pretty darn good. Now, moving on to my October Goals.

In October I Want To...
'Boo' somebody
Maybe even more than one somebody, but we'll see how ambitious I get. I always go waaay overboard with buying all.the.Halloween.things (including candy) so I always have lots to give around Halloween.

Get back into a fitness routine
It's been way to long since I followed a consistent fitness routine and I'm over feeling uncomfortable in all my clothes so this is absolutely happening this month.

Have a sleepover with my nieces
I feel like I never see them anymore - I probably still see them about 3-4 times most weeks but it's not for very long and I'm just so used to seeing them all.the.time. I haven't told their Mom about my plans for a sleepover but she really doesn't get a say either way - it's just happening!

Craft something
Maybe this Candy Corn art. Or this Succulent Pumpkin Centerpiece. Or this Paper Garland. I'm not exactly sure what I'll be crafting yet but I do know that I haven't gotten crafty in awhile and it's way overdue.

Try 5 new recipes
I exceeded my goal last month so I have high hopes for October. I realized as I was writing up my September Goals progress that I tend to gravitate towards recipes with chicken so hopefully I step more outside of my comfort zone this month.

Order 2017 photos
Now that I've started working on culling and editing photos I do think I can get this done this month.

Publish at least 10 blog posts
I managed 8 last month and blogging hasn't seemed like a chore lately, like it had in the past, so I think it's a reasonable goal.

Create a daily skincare routine and follow through with it
I posted a selfie on IG after my haircut last week and a blog friend commented that my hair and skin looked so healthy. I thanked her but was quick to reply that my skin must be due to genetics because I don't take very good care of it - something I plan to make a goal for 2018 but it doesn't hurt to start early!

Celebrate Thanksgiving
The countdown is on, only 5 sleeps until Turkey Day. Thanksgiving is technically on Monday but my family always celebrates on Thanksgiving Sunday and even though we just had a Turkey Supper with all the fixings a few weeks ago I'm still looking forward to it.

Enjoy an at home spa day
I haven't done one in awhile so October seems like a good month to enjoy some ME time and also use up some products cluttering up my bathroom cabinets.

I usually don't like to wish time away because it already goes by fast enough on it's own but I absolutely cannot wait for Halloween - one of the main reasons I'd consider October one of my favourite months.

Oh, and in case you weren't aware of today's date, I leave you with this.

Links + Love (September 2017)...

This video showed up in my Facebook feed on Wednesday and, no word of a lie, I watched it 10 times in a row. I definitely may have had tears of my own. I mean, how sweet is she?! I just wanted to give her a hug. Tiny humans are the best.

I found out yesterday that the Pioneer Woman is releasing a new bedding line next week and even though I just bought new bedding earlier this year I might just have to get some for a spare bedroom... Just look at the rose garden set - all the heart eyes!

Another post that had me wiping away tears. I love Dan and Norah's friendship!

I picked up these slip on runners at DSW in the MOA and they were perfect for walking around downtime Minneapolis and up and down the stairs at Target Field. I wish I would have bought another pair!

It's perfectly acceptable to drink a ton of wine over the next few weeks just so I can make this, right?

I'm also very tempted to try this tutorial. I need some succulents in my life!

I've been moving things around in my bedroom, trying to finally settle on a set up that I LOVE, and I found this cozy corner area on Pinterest and I think I might try to incorporate into a corner of my room that is currently very bare. Also, if someone has a recommendation for where to find large fake plants that won't cost me my first born child please send them my way!

I need one more new recipe to try this month and I'm thinking this might be the winner for supper tomorrow night.

Have a great weekend y'all! My plans for the weekend include binge watching This is Us Season 1 on Netflix, catching up on laundry, finishing a book I started last week and haven't opened once this week, taking some photos for a friend, and cleaning my SUV. A little bit of lazy mixed with getting things done - the perfect combo!

Photo Dump Thursday (September 2017)...

I've been wracking my brain all night trying to think of something to post tomorrow (Thursday) to make sure I meet my goal of 8 posts for this month. I already know what Friday's post will be, I just could not think of something to post today, BUT then I finally had a light bulb moment and remembered the piece of paper I have tucked in my desk with a bunch of post ideas for when I'm in a rut (so all the time...) and one of the first things I read was a Last Ten Photo Dump. I haven't done well lately with including many pictures with my posts so I was sold on the idea as soon as I read it. So here you go, the last ten* photos taken on my phone.

ONE
This was just taken about twenty minutes ago. Within three seconds of putting her on the bed she was curled up on the blanket and fast asleep. Be still my heart
TWO
The selfie I posted a little bit ago on Instagram to document finally get my hair cut. Which I almost didn't post because I get so much anxiety posting selfies. The things that give me anxiety are the silliest things everrrrrr.
THREE
I'm trying out a new work schedule that will keep me from working as much overtime as I have been lately and yesterday morning I didn't have to be in my office until 8:45 instead of my usual 7:15 (I'm hoping to do this one day a week) so I took these two for a walk before I had to leave for work. To be honest, I tried to slip out of the house with just Krickit but I swear Kirby can sense when I'm even thinking about taking Krickit for a walk so I ended up with both of them. And in the picture Krickit had somehow managed to extract herself from her harness so right after this was taken I had to fix it or it would have slipped right off her back.
FOUR
A new Winners/HomeSense opened in Harbour Landing, the area of the Queen City that I'm actually comfortable driving in, and I've been wanting to hit it up for forever and finally got the chance on Tuesday when I had to head there for an orthodontist appointment. I've been on the hunt for a Rae Dunn spoon rest and I finally found one and was SO excited. I contemplated getting both of them but in the end just ended up with the 'Rest' one. I am Rae Dunn obsessed right now (late to the party, I know).
FIVE
I had a New York Fries poutine for lunch at the Food Court in the mall before my appointment while in the Queen City. It's not very often that I get this so I treated myself to the delicious-ness.

Krickit came outside with me while I was taking some photos for the blog last weekend and when I went to take a picture of her she tilted her head as if to say 'Another picture Mom (insert eye roll)'. Isn't she the cutest?! (And don't worry, her badger claws got clipped on Monday)
SEVEN
I had to stop and take a picture of the fog over the valley behind my parents house before I left for work the other morning. It looked too pretty not to photograph! This isn't the best picture that I got but when I went to upload them this is the one I accidentally chose and it's late and I want to get to bed soon so I'm just leaving this one.
EIGHT
I took this last weekend to use with my Fall Bucket List post. I think we can all agree that Fall really is the prettiest season to photograph. I actually took a bunch of photos on my DSLR but ended up using the sub-par ones I took with my iPhone because I knew that if I dumped my memory card onto my laptop I'd be stuck editing photos for hours and just didn't feel up to it.
  NINE

One of my September Goals was to try 5 new recipes this month and last Saturday night I tried the Chicken Noodle Casserole from here. I did add a little bit of shredded cheese to the top for the last 5 minutes that it was baking but otherwise I stuck with the original recipe. Definitely one I will make again!
 TEN
MN was kind enough to play chaffeur to my family while we were in the Twin Cities for the Jays vs Twins games. My Mama wanted to check out the outlets in Eagan so on the Saturday morning we headed there and I picked up this oversized wallet to match my purse. The picture was taken right before I threw out the bag, just in case I decided to use it on the blog at some point ie: a What I'm Loving Lately kind of post. Or, in this case, a photo dump!

*Okay, not technically the last 10 taken but the last ten that weren't all of the same thing. I literally have 6 photos of Krickit sleeping that all look the same and I didn't want to bore y'all with that so I went through and took the last 10 that weren't duplicates.

I think I need to make this kind of post a weekly or monthly thing from now on! It's funny to see how completely random all the photos are and I like that they give a little glimpse into things in my life that might not get posted here. What do y'all think?!

What's Up Wednesday (September 2017)...

Happy Humpday y'all! I was off work yesterday for an appointment in the Queen City so today is a Wednesday that feels like a Monday and it has me all sorts of messed up. But, thankfully, it is actually Wednesday AND it's the last Wednesday of the month which means it's time for the What's Up Wednesday link up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer. I've had good intentions to link up with them numerous times and never followed through but today is finally the day I do! Here we go:

What I'm eating this week
This week has started off rough with eating proper meals. I haven't cooked once yet this week. In my defense I worked on Sunday and didn't get home until 7:15, worked a 10 hour shift on Monday and didn't get home until just after 6:00, and didn't get home from an appointment in the Queen City until after 8:00 last night. Sunday night I had leftovers from the supper I made on Saturday (Chicken Noodle Casserole from here), Monday I had Eggo waffles because I couldn't muster up the energy to do anything put press the toaster down after a 10 hour work day while sick, and yesterday I ate lunch at the food court in the mall before my appointment and then ate Skinny Pop popcorn on the drive home (#adulting). I also work until 6:00 tonight so I imagine tonight is going to be another thrown together meal. BUT I have plans to make this Creamy Chicken Fajita Soup this week as well as these Loaded Baked Potato Bites.

What I'm reminiscing about
My nieces being babies. Almost every day I have a Facebook memory pop up about something funny that they said or an adorable picture of them but just this month they turned 7 and 11 and I'm realizing that they're not my little babies anymore and I just want to cry into a bottle of wine about it!

What I'm loving
All the Fall colours. It might not be my favourite season but it's definitely beautiful!
I took this photo (on my crappy iPhone, mind you) of the fog over the valley behind my parents house the other morning. This season is just so fun to photograph!
What I've been up to
Work, work, and more work. I'm testing out a couple of different schedules for myself to see what best fits my life at this time (and what doesn't add up to a bunch of overtime each week!) and I'm hoping that by the end of October I get myself on a regular schedule (and no.more.overtime). Also, my seasonal allergies have been kicking my butt and gave me a sinus infection so when I haven't been working I've been in bed. I'm trying out a new nasal spray and allergy medication so hopefully things are all smooth sailing from now on!

What I'm dreading
Having to get a pap test done (TMI, I know). I'm overdue for a pap test (just by a few months) and have been putting it off but just yesterday I found out that my doctor is leaving in January so I need to call to book it asap before she leaves and there aren't any women doctors left in the area.

What I'm working on
Project life albums from 2012-now. I am so behind and its very overwhelming but I just need to keep on trucking with it so I can finally be caught up (and stay caught up!)

What I'm excited about
All the upcoming holidays. Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away, we're just over a month until Halloween, AND ITS LESS THAN THREE MONTHS UNTIL CHRISTMAS NOW! Can you tell I'm just a tiny bit excited?! (haha)

What I'm watching/reading
I'm preparing myself to start watching the first season of This is Us this weekend now that it's on Canadian Netflix (I PVR'd last nights premiere for when I'm finally caught up). Otherwise I don't get to invested in tv shows because I just don't make the time to stay up to date with them.

I just finished my annual Harry Potter series re-read and am now currently making my way through The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand. Then I'm all out of new reads so send me your recommendations! So far I'm at 27 books for the year and I'd really like to get to at least 45 before the year ends.

What I'm listening to
I'm still loving all the songs from this months Currently post but I've also added Legends by Kelsea Ballerini into the mix.
What I'm wearing
This coat from the A New Day line for Target any chance that I get. It's not quite cold enough for it yet but I've had it since July so I held off long enough and as soon as it was officially Fall the coat went on. I LOVE it and wish I would have also gotten it in the gray colour as well. Hopefully next time I make it to Target they will still have it - fingers crossed!

What I'm doing this weekend
Taking some photos for a friend and her boyfriend for their Christmas card and hopefully some photos of my sister and her girls. I'm not a professional (obviously) but I want to work on my skills so I volunteered my services to do some photos so I can get some practice in. Hopefully the weather co-operates!
What I'm looking forward to next month
Halloween!

What else is new
Life is still just flying by and I once again can't believe another month is almost gone. This month my Twin (aka my cousin) moved home after a little over a year out in BC so I'm happy that she's home and I'll get to see her more often. I have plans to meet up with a bunch of different friend groups in October to catch up so that something to look forward to. And I'm not sure yet when I'll be seeing MN next so him and I need to figure that out asap!

Fall Bucket List (2017)...

The first weekend of Fall was completely uneventful in my world. I've been dealing with a sinus infection for about a week now so I was in bed by 8:00 on Friday night (#thisis30), and stayed in bed most of Saturday morning. I wish I would've been able to sleep all that time, I'm still trying to recover on sleep lost during my trip to the Twin Cities the weekend prior, but instead I just tossed and turned most of the time and gave myself a headache from squeezing my eyes shut trying to force myself to sleep. That afternoon I decided to try something other than  my trusty Advil Cold & Sinus and it did the trick because I got a burst of energy around 3:00 that had me cleaning and organizing my bedroom and the spare bedrooms downstairs, and it even lasted long enough for me to make supper. I made this Chicken Noodle Casserole - it's been on my Mmm Mmm Good Pinterest board for forever but with feeling under the weather I was craving comfort food so I finally got around to trying it. My go-to comfort food meal is usually homemade creamy chicken noodle soup but I had just made that before leaving for the Twin Cities with leftovers from celebrating my birthday with Christmas-in-July-in September. I've now tried three new recipes in September, just two to go before Friday!

On Friday morning, before I started feeling even worse than I had been, I agreed to work a 6 hour shift on Sunday at my old part time job to help out while one of the owners was sick so that took up most of yesterday (the drive to and from 'the city' adds an extra hour and a half on to the day). The store was soooo busy, I barely got to sit down all day, so by the time I got home at 7:00 last night I was just exhausted - it took everything in me to keep my eyes open on the drive home. I was in bed by 8:00 again last night - being on my feet all day while sick completely played me out. Thankfully I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning on my way to the Queen City for my 6 month orthodontist check up so I should be on my way to feeling normal soon!

But enough about me being sick and miserable, that's not what this post is about! I managed to find a bit of time over the weekend to finish up my Fall Bucket List so here it is in all it's glory.

Fall in the GWN really only last about 6 weeks (we'll be lucky if there isn't snow on the ground by Halloween) and as soon as November 12th hits I'm in full on Christmas mode so that doesn't leave me much time to get things crossed off of my list. Knowing that, I scaled my list down compared to usual so that I wouldn't be in over my head while in a time crunch and I'm hoping that will help me be able to accomplish every single thing on my list. Wish me luck!
